Content marketing funnel is a process of building a list of potential buyers and delivering the individual pieces they are interested in. It’s the journey that starts with awareness and ends when someone finally converts to a customer.

There is no one-size-fits-all content marketing funnel, which means it’s important to adapt your strategy for different stages along the buyer journey. Here are five stages you should identify as you build out your content marketing funnel: Awareness, Interest, Consideration, Conversion, Retention.

Understanding these five main segments will help you tailor your brand messaging according to what stage an individual buyer is in during their buying process. Below is how each segment of the funnel builds into the next.

Five stage of content marketing funnel :

The Awareness Stage:

The goal here is to let your customers know about your presence in the market. One of the best ways to do this is to feature content that was written by a third party authority. This way you look credible and will gain trust.  It’s basically free advertising for you, when your client shares it on their website or blog, they are in fact spreading the word.

The Interest Stage:

As potential leads enter this stage, it means that they are beginning to take action but not quite ready to buy just yet. They may have a list of questions they want to ask but have not yet taken the next step. They are still in the research stage and are doing some online research. Providing additional insights or valuable resources here is the perfect opportunity to get them into the Engagement Stage.

The Consideration Stage:

This is where you build trust and authority by giving your potential clients a full funnel of information to make an informed decision. It’s basically a way for them to be educated on what you do, why you do it, and how they can benefit from that information.

The Conversion Stage:

The goal here is to get your client to the next stage where they can finally take action. Starting with a free trial or free lead magnet is the best way to do this. Then you have to make sure that they are ready for a paid purchase. This is where you have to offer them an alternative, if they aren’t ready yet it’s not worth it for them to become a paying customer.

The Retention Stage:

This is about helping your clients be successful and stay loyal. The goal of retention marketing is essentially ensuring that existing customers stick around and buy from you again and again. The strategy often involves helping customers feel a personal connection to your brand. All you need to do now is build your content marketing funnel.

Final Thought:

To get started, map out the five stages and then map out the steps that will take them from one stage to another. Using this visual content marketing funnel will make it easier for you to update and keep track of what works and what doesn’t work as you move your leads through each stage of the funnel. The more measurable the better so you can analyze what happened when you posted a new blog or how well a webinar did. Make it your job to move them down the funnel.

This how funnel looks and there is one more thing you must know about why is marketing important?
